It’s that time of year again when holiday inspired products flood our favorite stores and sites. We want to focus on the best themed products before they disappear.
Harvest Pumpkin Ale – Blue Moon
One of my favorite festive drinks I look forward to comes from Blue Moon Brewing. Only offered during the fall and winter, this ale infuses pumpkin along with spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice for a taste you’ll want to fall right into.
Punkin Ale – Dogfish Head
Another great ale comes from Dogfish Head. A full-bodied brown ale that has subliminal hints of pumpkin and brown sugar. This beer is perfect for a cold winter’s night and is available at your local grocery store. Dogfish Head named their Punkin Ale after the seriously off-centered southern Delaware extravaganza Punkin Chunkin (check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VrS5hhEgz0 to see this event in action)!
Starbucks Holiday Drinks
It’s impossible to escape the cult of Starbuck’s red cups. The holiday drinks every year cause quite a stir among young and old alike. The three holiday favorites include: gingerbread latte, caramel brulee latte and peppermint mocha. However, Starbucks has added a new item this year: the Christmas Blend Blonde Roast. It’s a woodsy blend of brown sugar, oranges and allspice.
Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s
I might have to argue that Trader Joe’s Joe-Joe’s beat out Oreo’s anytime. Especially during the holiday season, the Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s are sublime. A rich cocoa cookie sandwiching an intense peppermint filling and crushed candy canes is asking for heavenly goodness. Check out your local Trader Joes or try them out online.
Sprinkles Cupcakes – Thanksgiving EAT Box
If you never have had a Sprinkles Cupcake your life is not complete. Instead of your traditional Thanksgiving dessert why not change it up with cupcakes? Sprinkles offers fall inspired flavors including: orange cranberry, pumpkin, red velvet and dark chocolate. The cupcakes are adorned with Sprinkles turkey and maple leaf sugar decorations and are available for delivery through their website.
One of my favorite classic holiday treats is peppermint bark made by Williams-Sonoma. This nostalgic bark is handmade from “custom-blended Guittard premium chocolate, infused with natural peppermint oil, layered with creamy white chocolate and finished with a snowfall of crisp handmade peppermint candy bits.” The packaging is beautiful and comes in a classic tin box perfect for any gift.
Frrrozen Hot Chocolate
When you think of cold weather all you want is a hot drink to accompany you. Instead of featuring a classic hot holiday drink I thought we could focus on the opposite: Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. Serendipity made famous this drink over 50 years ago and has been endorsed by Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe and Oprah Winfrey. If you can’t make it all the way to the Big Apple to try this trademark, you can buy the Serendipity mix through Amazon.
Dresden Stollen Bakers
A classic holiday tradition for Germans is a rich, buttery stolen. Each sweet yeast loaf is made by hand and packed with plump rum-soaked raisins and dried fruits. After shaping and baking, the loaf is dipped in melted butter and vanilla sugar, then finished with a sprinkling of confectioners’ sugar. The best Dresden comes from Dresden Stollen Bakers who have been making their perfected recipe since 1825. You can order directly through their website, and trust us you cannot go wrong. It’s perfect for tea, coffee or any hot drink during the holidays. Enjoy!
